Process Monitoring Report

"As System Integrators, we needed to collect data from Convenience Stores throughout the USA, calculate statistical information and publish the results to a Web Server.
We chose XLReporter to provide the reporting for three reasons:

i) The rich analytical environment of Excel is available for the reports.
ii) Reports are automatically updated and distributed using standard interfaces.
iii) Reports are published to a web server in a single command, with absolutely no programming!. "

Project Requirements
Our Customer needed to monitor "live" and historical information from their Convenience Stores.  

The reporting solution needed to provide the following information:
Compressor start/stops
Runtimes of equipment
Energy usage and cost
Equipment set points and actual values
Alarms

Gasoline tank compliance and inventory data
and much more...

The Solution
Our solution is based on the Axeda Supervisor (Wizcon) software combined with XLReporter.  Wizcon is selected to provide the means to access the live data from the Convenience Stores and log the information to a historical Server.  Using WizSQL scripts, the historical logs are periodically concentrated and moved to a relational database.

XLReporter is used to create report template layouts in the environment of Excel.  During the design of a template, connections to the live data and relational database are made using integrated browsers and query builders provided by XLReporter.

Web pages are generated by XLReporter's scheduler by simply choosing the template, the name of the web page and the time it was required.

The Benefits
From a System Integrators perspective, using XLReporter provides us with all the tools needed to build a solution for our Customer that would have otherwise taken us a significant amount of effort, increasing our costs and time spent on the project.  The product gave us an environment for rapid development and timely delivery.  Excel, being familiar to any computer user, gave us a common language with our customer that resulted in very short design and review cycles.

From the Customers perspective, they are given a solution that is completely configurable and not reliant on us to make minor changes as they arise. The web based reporting gives them a window to anticipate problems before they happen, resulting in significant cost saving.

The final solution creates an "at a glance" view of the stores operation and efficiency from easily customizable forms.
