Connection Configurator

The Connection Configurator is your report template designer cockpit.  It is used to define the data sources required for the report and where the values are to be positioned in the report.

Connections provide all data for your report.  Whether from a database, from an Expression of time or from data stored within the Function Database, all source data is provided through connections.

Launched from the XLReporter menu item within Excel, the Connection Configurator allows you to define all the source data connections you need for your report and tie them to specific cells, specific columns or specific rows within Excel.

The Connection Configurator

The Connection Configurator consists of two distinct sections, Source and Target.  Source defines the data to retrieve whilst Target defines where that data is written in the report.

Under Source, you can select the following Types of data:

  • Real-Time.

  • Historical from a Historical Server.

  • Relational from a Relational Database.

  • Specific Date and Time expressions.

  • Aggregate data provided by XLReporter's aggregate database..

Under Target, you can configure data to be written to the report:

  • Directly in the cell specified.

  • In Columns.  Usually used in conjunction with real-time data source.

  • In Rows.  Usually used in conjunction with real-time data source.

Chemical treatment report updated once a day.

All of the connections defined the in Connection Configurator can write to the report automatically from either the scheduler or on-demand.
