What is Internet of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a network of devices (Things) that collect and share data. In practice, this is made possible by extending the network connectivity of traditionally "dumb" or non-internet-enabled physical devices and everyday objects. These devices communicate and interact with each other over the Internet where they can be remotely monitored and controlled. The term Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is the industrial subset of IoT, the so-called Industry 4.0.

Internet of Things (IoT) The ProSoft Technology and SyTech partnership provides reports and dashboards from data anywhere in the world. It does this by using the PLX51 devices in remote locations to make data accessible to XLReporter. With the raw data, reports and dashboards are produced to:
  • INFORM - what happened?
  • DIAGNOSE - why did it happen?
  • PREDICT - could there be consequences?
  • RESOLVE - what is the remedy?

On-Premise Data Using ProSoft PLX51

History data from local ProSoft PLX51 devices is accessed using the PLX51 REST API. XLReporter periodically collects all new data from the device and consolidates the information to a local database or a database hosted on the cloud e.g., Azure.
With tags and history data in a database, reports and dashboards are created automatically or on-demand and distributed by email, server, printer or XLReporter's web portal.

Remote Data Using ProSoft Connect

History data from remote ProSoft PLX51 devices is accessed using ProSoft Connect. XLReporter periodically collects all new data from the device and consolidates the information to a local database or a database hosted on the cloud e.g., Azure.
With tags and history data in a database, reports and dashboards are created automatically or on-demand and distributed by email, server, printer or XLReporter's web portal.

Metrics and KPIs

Produce reports automatically or on-demand from the ProSoft storage. Retrieve sample values and "out-of-box" metrics on performance, statistics and runtimes that have been filtered and scaled according to your requirement.

In addition to the standard set of metrics provided by the historian, XLReporter provides an extended set of calculations specific to industry. XLReporter provides a rich set of calculations for historical data
Metrics are readily available without any scripting or programming. Simply select the tags of interest, the time frame and calculation e.g., average temperature over each hour of the day, and let XLReporter do the rest.
